Ingredients
- 3cups plain flour
- .66cup milkluke warm
- 0.5cup icing sugarplus extra for decorating
- 100gr unsalted buttermelted
- 2tsp dried yeast
- 50gr mixed peelor orange or raisins
- orange flavouring or extractjust a few drops
- 1pinch salt
- butterfor greasing mould
Preparation
- Combine the flour, egg yolks, milk, sugar, salt, orange peel and orange extract in a freestanding mixer. Mix for 5 minutes, the dough should look sticky and shiny. Alternatively tip all ingredients into a large bowl and mix with your hands for about 10 minutes. Add the melted butter but by bit, mixing after every addition. Ensure the butter is not hot. Mix until smooth.
- Transfer the dough into a clean bowl sprinkled with flour. Cover the bowl with oiled cling film and leave to rise in a warm place. The dough needs to double its volume. Grease the cake mould with butter. Remove the dough from the bowl, knead briefly and transfer into the mould. Set aside again until the dough doubles its volume again.
- Heat the oven to 170-180C and bake for about 45 minutes. Cool and decorate with the leftover icing sugar.
